Thursday, October 26th: Jeremiah 6-8; 1 Timothy 5 ~ Tammy

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Jeremiah 6-8; 1 Timothy 5

1 Timothy 5: 1-2 Do not rebuke an older man harshly, but exhort him as if he were your father. Treat younger men as brothers, older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with absolute purity.
We are quick to treat people as less than people.  Particularly over the internet!  But sitting behind every keyboard is a real live person.  And every person we deal with - whether online, or in person; whether the business man or the garbage man; whether the doctor or the janitor - is a human, created in God's image, just like you and I.

I like how Paul reminds Timothy about how he is to think about those he encounters.  That older man IS someone's dad.  That young girl IS someone's sister or daughter.  That older woman is someone's mom or grandma.

You can tell a lot about someone by how they treat those who are in "inferior" positions.

How do you and I treat those people?  What does it say about us?
