Proverbs 11:7 New Living Translation (NLT)
7 When the wicked die, their hopes die with them,
for they rely on their own feeble strength.
No matter how successful unbelievers may appear to us on the outside (and we all know that the outside polished veneer very often conceals unhappiness on the inside), that success ends at the moment of death. And all that success will be absolutely meaningless in the face of an eternity of suffering.
As believers, we are not promised wealth or health here on earth. We are not promised an easy life or that God would remove all our trials. Indeed, quite the opposite! It's clear that while on earth we will face trials of many kinds. But our hope lies in Jesus and His victory over sin and death.
Instead of our own feeble strength, we rely on His unwavering strength and His faithful presence through all the storms of life.
