Wednesday, August 23rd: Psalms 113-115, 1 Corinthians 6 ~ Nathan

Psalm 114: 3-8
The sea looked and fled, the Jordan turned back;
the mountains leaped like rams, the hills like lambs.
Why was it, sea, that you fled? Why, Jordan, did you turn back?
Why, mountains, did you leap like rams, you hills, like lambs?
Tremble, earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,  who turned the rock into a pool, the hard rock into springs of water.

These verses represent some of the miracles God performed for the Israelites as they made their way out of Egypt to the promised land. They also show how easily God can do things that look impossible to us.

1 Corinthians 6: 18
Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.

We see so many sexual sins around us today, and many families have been damaged. This is another reminder to us of the importance of living our lives the way God wants, and not giving in to sinful desires.

Psalm 115:1 Not to us, Lord, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.

May we always give glory where it is due (not to ourselves!)
