Sunday, March 5th: Numbers 32-34; Mark 9:30-50 ~ Emma

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Numbers 32-34; Mark 9:30-50

"If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It's better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands." - Mark 9:43

If there is an area or person or thing in my life that is causing me to sin, I need to cut it out of my life. I might love it, but if it pulls me away from Jesus then it is not good and I need to get rid of it.

God, help me to get rid of whatever is keeping me from having a fully devoted relationship with you. Amen.

Good point Emma, but tough to do. It's tough to get rid of something that's enjoyable but harmful, like eating a lot of dessert, it's enjoyable but has lasting negative effects. I pray for strength to get rid of harmful desires that look good at first but have long lasting negative effects.

Emma, I appreciate your reminder to get rid of things that keep us from having a close relationship with Jesus. It's so true. Thanks Emma.

It's so easy for us to minimize sin. I pray that I would always see my sin as seriously as God does.

I wonder why the two and a half tribes thought that the land outside the Promised Land could possibly be better than the land God had selected for them. Do we look outside God's plan and think our way is better?
