Job 24:25 says, "If this is not so, who can prove me false and reduce my words to nothing?" In this passage Job is talking and he is talking about how great our God is, he is saying that no one can prove him wrong and say that God doesn't exist, and he was faced with some of the harshest trials someone could face, yet he stood up for his faith and proved God is real and He is good.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is: Nehemiah 4-6, Revelation 10

Revelation 10:10 says, "And I took the little scroll from the hand of the angel and ate it. It was sweet as honey in my mouth, but when I had eaten it my stomach was made bitter." Here the Apostle is being told to eat the scroll, which is sweet to the mouth but bitter in the stomach, this could refer to how when we hear the word of the Lord, we too must eat what we hear in order to digest it thoroughly, in the way we are intended to hear it.

1 John 1 is all about how we need to do more than just talk about our faith. We need to live out our faith. Verse 6 talks about how even if we have fellowship with God but walk in darkness the we are no closer to God than someone who doesn’t even proclaim his name. We need to talk about our faith and live out our faith every day.

John 11:35 as many know, this is the shortest book of the bible only saying, "Jesus wept." but this shows much more than what we expect if we are just reading it. Jesus knew that he was going to bring Lazarus back to life, he knew all this before he went to his house. Jesus was crying because he saw Lazarus' family crying and felt for them, this shows that Jesus was able to feel and experience things that most would think he couldn't

John 1:29-51 is all about how ready Jesus' disciples were to give their lives for him, I find that nowadays people need to proof in order to believe in something, but here as soon and Jesus was seen by these men, they gave away everything they had, and followed. This is what Jesus tells us to do, but we are more unwilling to submit everything to Jesus because our society has become so fixated on the treasures of Earth, rather than our Heavenly treasure, but we, as Christians need to be willing to give everything up for Jesus and follow him whole heartedly.

James 3 is all about taming the tongue, however it also says the tongue cannot be tamed, in this sense it feels as though we are trying to do something that is impossible, yet it also says, "9 With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse people who are made in the likeness of God." With this we may not be able to tame it all the way but we can still choose the words we say wisely by speaking the truth of God every step of our lives. We can either speak life or hurt, the choice is ours.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Psalms 117-118, 2 Corinthians 4

2 Corinthians 18 says, "18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal." I find that as humans we all try to find happiness in worldly things and things that can be seen, however here we are told that we should not care about our earthly possessions but should think and care about our unseen possessions and that is what the Lord requires of us.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is: Psalms 28-30, Matthew 22:23-46

Right at the end of Matthew chapter 23 in verse 46 it says, "46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions." and through this single verse it shows how Jesus always knows exactly what to say to give everyone and anyone what they need to hear. Recently my manager at Smittys was asking me questions about my faith and about Christianity, and every answer I came up with I felt like it fell short of what he wanted to hear, and once I prayed about it, when I gave him the answer, that very clearly came from God, he told me I had just  answered 85% of the questions he had ever had. So as we walk in our every day routines, remember that God is always willing to provide the words and answers others, or ourselves need.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Isaiah 43-45, Matthew 13:1-23

Matthew 13:12-14 says, "For to the one who has, more will be given, and he will have an abundance, but from the one who has not, even what he has will be taken away. 13 This is why I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. 14 Indeed, in their case the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled that says: 'You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive."


Jesus is explaining why he is teaching in parables, and explaining how the large crowds do not undersatnd the Kingdom of God as well as the disciples do, and it really made me think that we are all the crowd, needing to be taught in parables, for example he says, "seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand." and many times we can hear something but not hear it in the way it us supposed to be said, but in the case of a parable, it is usually heard the way it is meant to be heard.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Amos 1-4, 1 Timothy 5

1st Timothy 5 is all about how we must treat the elderly and widows in our church, and it made me think how I don't see many meetings or church groups with the widows, we have something for the kids, youth, young adults, and elders, but not the widows. It is hard to understand what they have gone through but the Lord tells us that we need to be there for them always.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is 1 Thessalonians 1, 1 Kings 19-20

1 Thessalonians 6 says, " And you became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you received the word in much affliction, with the joy of the Holy Spirit." In our lives we need to be more like Thessalonians and receive the word with affection and desire, and have a joy and passion to grow in our faith, and be imitators of the Lord.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Ecclesiastes 4-6, Romans 5

Romans 5:6 and 7 says, "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die." Here Paul puts what God did for us, by dying a cross into perspective. He died for the ungodly, and unrighteous, when we won't die for even the most righteous, we find it easier to live our lives for us, but won't give our lives to God. This week I will seek to live more for God, because he is the most righteous, and I am the unrighteous, but he died for me.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is 1 Samuel 25-27, Luke 22:39-71

Luke 22:51 states,  "But Jesus said, “No more of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him." Here Jesus is talking with the leading priests and he healed one of their slaves' ear, and no one said anything about it, it confuses me how the miracles are happening right in front of the priests eyes and they just ignore them and choose to ignore the fact that no ordinary human can do these things, only God could heal a man's ear just by touching it.

In our lives we need to see what God has laid out for us, and as he works through us, we need to give him the glory, because without him none of this could happen.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Judges 19-21, Luke 12:35-59

Luke12 says, "39 But know this, that if the master of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have left his house to be broken into. 40 You also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect."

Jesus' teachings tell us to always be prepared for his return to Earth, for we do not know when he is coming, we also don't know when our time is for us to go to him, when he calls us home. As Christians it is our responsibility to go out and tell people about God, so they don't miss out on their chance at eternal life in Heaven. We must also live as Christ for when Judgement Day comes there will be no uncertainty in our lives that through our whole life, we were living as the Lord has told us.

Joshua 7:10 says, "The Lord said to Joshua, 'Stand up! What are you doing down on your face?11 Israel has sinned; they have violated my covenant, which I commanded them to keep." then in verse 13 God says, "You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it." As I read this I thought about my life, and how i tend to try and forget the wrongs I have done, rather than try and fix or confront them. Here The Lord clearly states that in our lives we must fix the sins we commit before we can truly feel free, because we can't forget them because He will keep it prevalent in our life.

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Deuteronomy 7-9, Hebrews 13

In Hebrews 13:8-9 it says, "8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so." I often find myself forgetting that God has always been the same, and will always be the same. I believe that we are often led astray by false teachings, and find ourselves believing what society tells us is true, and now what the Word say is true. We need to trust the Lord because he knows everything we have done, and will do, as he is always going to be the same, and he knows what we need.

Monday, February 19: Numbers 7-9, Hebrews 3 by Kaden

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is: Numbers 7-9, Hebrews 3

Hebrews 3:4 says, "For every house was built by someone, but the builder off all things is God."
    I often find myself telling myself that my talents and accomplishments were done on my own doing, but I should take a step back and give God the glory he deserves, because he created all things, which includes me as well.

Hebrews 3:16 states, "For those who heard and yet rebelled?, was it not those who left Egypt led by Moses?"
    Here we are told to listen for God's voice and do as He says, because his plans are greater than ours, if Moses decided to not trust God's plan and not take God's people out of Egypt's slavery, then no one would have been able to be free, we all need to listen for God, and trust his plan and dive head first in his ways.

Ephesians 1:9-10 "Making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and  things on earth."


I often notice myself questioning what God's plan for me is, and most often I forget that his plan is only revealed to us when the time is right. God's plan cannot be predicted or changed, his plan is set and will be revealed when the time is right.

This coming week I encourage you to follow God's will, even if it seems like his plan has no point, and trust his promises as we were told, and remember that he reveals his plan when we are ready.

Monday, January 22: Exodus 4-6, Mark 12:28-44 Kaden

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is: Exodus 4-6, Mark 12:28-44

I have always questioned why God said, while talking about Pharaoh to Moses, "but I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go." but after reading and rereading I have come to the realization that since in chapter 4 when God hardens Pharaoh's heart, he makes his promise of deliverance in chapter 6 and told Moses that the stone heart of pharaoh will drive the Israelites with a strong hand, and thus making an easier escape from Egypt.

When Jesus answered answered the scribe that the second most important commandment is, "love you neighbour as yourself" we can find it very hard in our society to fulfill this as we tend to be very judgemental, but as we look upon everyone else in our lives we need to remember the only true judge is God, and since we need to love others as ourselves, we can only look upon others as we would look at ourselves.

Monday, January 8th: Genesis 19-21, Mark 5:1-20 ~ Kaden

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Genesis 19-21, Mark 5:1-20

Genesis 21:12-13 says “Be not displeased because of the boy and because of your slave woman. Whatever Sarah says to you, do as she tells you, for through Isaac shall your offspring be named. 13 And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring.”

When I read this, it reminded me of God's unconditional love. Verse 13 says, "And I will make a nation of the son of the slave woman also, because he is your offspring." Here God tells Abraham that even though he made the mistake of sleeping with the slave women, God wants to keep his promise that he made with Abraham and make a nation of his offspring. This shows that no matter what we do, God will always keep his promises that he has made with us.

Mark 5:16-19 "and those who had seen it described to them what had happened to the demon-possessed man and to the pigs. 17 And they began to beg Jesus[d] to depart from their region...'Go home to your friends and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.'"

Here Jesus performs the miracle of casting away demons from a man. There are two perceptions to this passage, 1) From the possessed man's point of view, and 2) the by stander's point of view. For the man, he experienced the miracle that Jesus displayed, and was full of joy after he was no longer possessed by the unclean spirits, and was now able to see his friends and family. There was also the view of the bystanders, they saw Jesus rid the spirits and cast them into the nearby pigs, they were all struck with fear and then cast Jesus out of their land. The two views represent our relationships with God, either we dive into his word and live out his truths, or we walk away from what he tells us to do, and we no longer know who he is and we become the bystanders scared of the life God wants us to live.
