Thursday, May 31st: 1 Kings 4 - 6, Romans 8 ~ Nathan

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is 1 Kings 4-6, Romans 8

In today's reading we start off with reading all the names of Solomon's officials and governors. These were important people, but how many names are recognized today? These men had some popularity and power then, but don't mean alot to us today. How many of the people today that have popularity and power will be recognized 2000 years from now?

Why do we then feel the importance of being popular and recognized? Would it not make much more sense to live a life devoted to God and have that as our focus instead? These thoughts are reminders for me to keep my focus on what counts, which is God and what He wants me to do.
