Our Proverbs passages teaches about the wisdom of seeking wisdom ;)
The thing is - often we KNOW what the wise thing is to do, we just don't want to do it. But going against godly wisdom is totally against our better judgment and is only going to cause us (and, more than likely, those around us) pain and heartache.
Proverbs 9:12 If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit.
If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.
Our sinful nature tempts us to ignore the wisdom we know.
Solomon is an excellent example of this actually. He was the wisest human who has ever lived, and yet he succumbed to the pleasures of secular society and their empty promises, only to discover that it was meaningless.
We need to pursue wisdom.
And when we know what wisdom is, we need to obey.
