Thursday, November 2nd: Jeremiah 27-29; Titus 3 ~ Tammy

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Jeremiah 27-29; Titus 3

Titus 3:3-7 At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.
This is one of my favourite passages.  To me it is a reminder that "there but for the grace of God, go I".  I am not better than anyone else.  Without God I am foolish, disobedient, deceived and ensured by sinful pleasures.  And I can do nothing to change that or to redeem myself.

But God can and He did!  In His mercy, He loved us.  We did nothing to deserve that love.  But He sent His son to live a sinless life, to die in our place taking the punishment we deserved, to conquer death and sin by rising again, justifying us and making us heirs with eternal life!

Amazing grace!
