July 1st

Today's reading in the One Year Bible Chronological Reading Plan is 2 Chronicles 29:3-31:21

Intentional Shepherding - Radical Mentoring is an incredibly challenging sermon that talks about numerous issues facing the church (specifically men) today and includes King Hezekiah bringing the people of Judah back to worshipping God.

I love reading about King Hezekiah and his passion for restoring the temple, and turning the hearts of the people back to God.

A couple verses jumped out at me in today's passage.

My sons, do not be negligent now, for the Lord has chosen you to stand before him and serve him, to minister before him and to burn incense. 2 Chronicles 29:11

Though this was directed specifically to the priests and Levites at that time, it is a relevant challenge for us today.

God has chosen us to serve Him, to minister TO Him and FOR Him. Will we do so?

In everything that he undertook in the service of God's temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered. 2 Chronicles 31:21 (emphasis mine)

Enough said.

Tomorrow's passage: Proverbs 25-29

Happy Canada Day!!
