July 7th

Today's reading from the One Year Bible Chronological Reading Plan is Psalm 92-97

Click here for John Piper's sermon on Chapter 95 and here for Chapter 96.

In today's readings I was struck by the absolute supremacy of God. It is truly beyond human comprehension.

In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Psalm 95:4-5

What an amazing word picture that is!

For all the gods of the nations are idols, but the Lord made the heavens. Psalm 96:5 (emphasis mine)

His lightning lights up the world; the earth sees and trembles. The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the lord of all the earth. Psalm 97:4-5 (emphasis mine)

Psalm 95:1 says "Come, let us sing for joy to the lord"
Why?
vs 3 answers "For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods."

Rejoice in the Lord because He is supreme!

Tomorrow's passage: Psalm 98-100, 102, 104
