The book of Nahum is the prophecy of the coming judgement of the Assyrian’s. While it is primarily written to the people of Ninevah, we can be assured that anyone who stays arrogant & resists God’s authority will face his anger.
The Lord is slow to anger & great in power; the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished. His way is in the whirlwind & the storm, & clouds are the dust of his feet. The mountains quake before him & the hills melt away. The earth trembles at his presence, the world & all who live in it.
Nahum 1:3&5
God is slow to be angered. But as the verse says, when he is ready to punish even the earth will tremble & it will come swiftly as a whirlwind.
We sometimes wonder why evil isn't punished immediately & yet, if it was, none of us would be here. God gives us the opportunity to come to him & we can be thankful for the time he gives for people to turn to him.

This makes me want to ask for forgiveness a lot quicker after sinning, and not wait. God is patient, but when our time is up - it's up and we don't have another chance
So thankful for God's patience with me!
What is sad about this book is how quickly the city of Nineveh fell back into wickedness. It was only about a century earlier that they had repented after hearing the reluctant prophet Jonah and his message from God. How quickly they forgot!
A reminder for us to be vigilant and unwavering in our faith, and diligent in teaching our children God's Word.
I took note of Nahum 1:7
The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.
To those who put their trust in Him, God is a refuge. To those who don't, He is like an angry fire (v6) and an overwhelming flood (v8). We have a choice - we can choose the fire and flood or was can choose the refuge.
It's reassuring knowing that we have God as our refuge.
This was a good reminder for me to take time to remember what God has done in the past for us and also what He can do those who deserve punishment. I am glad that He is slow to anger as I know I have let him down many times.
