In chapter 26&27, we continue to see the divisions, officers, overseers & other positions designated within the tribes of Israel.
Two things stood out to me today:
God has a specific purpose for each of us & wants us to feel valued in doing it to the best of our ability. “Consider now, for the Lord has chosen you to build a temple as a sanctuary. Be strong & do the work.” 1 Chronicles 28:10 (emphasis mine). We have been chosen by God to do a specific work. Consider that for a moment the next time we feel that what we’re doing isn’t all that important. The God of the universe placed us each where we belong to do what he designed for us. Now “be strong & do the work” & do it well! “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men” Colossians 3:23.
“Then King David said to the whole assembly: “My son Solomon, the one whom God has chosen, is young & inexperienced. The task is great because this palatial structure is not for man but for the Lord God”” 1 Chronicles 29:1. Whoa, my first thought is how embarrassed I'd be if someone said that about me to a group of people, not to mention to a nation about their new king! My next thought is “why?” Why are we too embarrassed or prideful to admit it when we don't know how to do something or maybe we know how but it's too much to handle on our own. Why are we not more willing to ask others for help? If we could just humble ourselves & receive help, we would be blessed to see how willing others are. “The people rejoiced at the willing response of their leaders, for they had given freely & wholeheartedly to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly” 1 Chronicles 29:9.

1 Chronicles 28:20
David also said to Solomon his son, “Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the Lord is finished
Just as Danae pointed out for us not to be too ashamed to ask for help, this verse proceeds that by David encouraging his son not to be afraid or discouraged. When God gives us a job to do it won't always run smoothly from start to finish, but we can't get discouraged and quit. Asking for help and persevering is what God wants from us during those times.
Chronicles 28:10 stood out to me too because sometimes I feel overwhelmed in my responsibilities at work. When I decided to work there, I felt it was God's leading and I haven't felt God leading me elsewhere so I need to trust in God and know that He has placed me where He wants me. Now I need to be obedient and do it well.
Great thoughts today Danae.
What jumped out at me was the answer to why we shouldn't be afraid or discouraged.... because God is with us, He will not fail us or forsake us. Yes, that was said to those particular people at that particular time, but it is true for us today as well. What a wonderful promise!
