Today's Scripture Focus: Hebrews 1:4-9
4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.
5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,
“You are my Son;
today I have become your Father?
today I have become your Father?
Or again,
“I will be his Father,
and he will be my Son”?
and he will be my Son”?
6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,
“Let all God’s angels worship him.”
7 In speaking of the angels he says,
“He makes his angels winds,
his servants flames of fire.”
his servants flames of fire.”
8 But about the Son he says,
“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever,
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.
9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
by anointing you with the oil of joy.”
No creature is ever greater than his Creator. Angels are marvelous creatures to be sure, and I can't wait to see one, but they are only created beings, and are not to be worshiped.
The name Jesus inherited was the Son of God. This title made it beyond clear that Jesus is infinitely superior to the angels, and He alone is worthy of worship. Jesus is God's firstborn, His heir, holding the place of highest privilege and responsibility, superior to any created being.

I am so curious about angels. I can't wait to see one either! I wonder if they are actually human-like in their form, or if they merely took on human proportions when they visited Mary, for example, so that they wouldn't be quite so frightening?
