1 Peter 4:10 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithfulstewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
This verse was a good reminder to me that our gifts are not given to us to benefit only ourselves, but rather to benefit and serve others. Our gifts are also not given to us in order for us to receive glory and praise, but instead those gifts are to glorify God. This doesn't mean that we cannot accept a compliment about our gifts or a skill we have honed (as instructed to do elsewhere in God's Word), but we should not allow it to become a stumbling block of pride, forgetting to acknowledge that it is by God's grace that we have received the gift and the ability to improve our talent.
