Thursday, October 10 ~ Miriam

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is Titus 3; Ecclesiastes 1; Jeremiah 15-16.
Today's scripture focus is Luke 17:22-25:

22 And He said to the disciples, The days will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 23 They will say to you, ‘Look there! Look here!’ Do not go away, and do not run after them. 24 For just like the lightning, when it flashes out of one part [a]of the sky, shines to the other part [b]of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

I'm so sorry.  I can't do this today. Our family has had so much stress and upheaval for the last three weeks.  I haven't been eating or sleeping well.  Yesterday, when I had intended to do this post, I instead had to pick up one of my kids from school.  There has been an ongoing problem between him and another boy in his class, and it seems to blow up on a weekly basis.  I spent the rest of the morning and half the afternoon talking to him about it and then I had to go to work until midnight.  I'm exhausted and I am now going to put a happy kids' movie on for Molly and the one little daycare girl I have here today, and take some quiet time.  Following are links to the sermons on these verses.

John MacArthur:  7 Characteristics of the Coming King, Part 17 Characteristics of the Coming King, Part 2

I wish you all a great Thursday and a wonderful {Canadian Thanksgiving} weekend .

Tomorrow's scripture focus:  Luke 17:25-37.
Tomorrow's Bible In a Year Passage passage:  Philemon 1; Ecclesiastes 2; Jeremiah 17-18

No problem Miriam, praying for you, that life settles down.

We long for the second coming of Christ. And it's a crucial doctrine that is demanded by the promises of God in the OT, the words of Jesus in the NT, and the entire Bible under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

We long for it, it will come unexpectedly, it will come suddenly, but it will come obviously. We won't be able to miss it. But there will be a delay. First Christ had to suffer and die in order for the second coming to even be a possibility. And even now, He is patient (not slow!), not as many to be saved as possible. Aren't we all glad He didn't come back the day before we got saved?

Sorry to hear you're going through a trying time. That makes everything in day-to-day life so much more stressful and energy-sapping than usual. I am praying for resolution and restoration ~ the sooner the better! ~ and for the peace of God and the joy of salvation through it all.
