Monday, July 1st: 2 Kings 18:13-19:37, Acts 21:1-17, Psalm 149:1-9, Proverbs 18:8 ~ Tammy

Today's passage from the Bible In a Year Reading Plan is 2 Kings 18:13-19:37, Acts 21:1-17, Psalm 149:1-9, Proverbs 18:8

I thought it fitting that today, on Canada Day, we see the story of a King (government leader) who turned to the true authority when he needed help.  I love Hezekiah's prayer....

2 Kings 19:15 And Hezekiah prayed this prayer before the Lord: “Lord, God of Israel, you are enthroned between the mighty cherubim! You alone are God of all the kingdoms of the earth. You alone created the heavens and the earth. 16 Bend down, O Lord, and listen! Open your eyes, O Lord, and see! Listen to Sennacherib’s words of defiance against the living God.
17 “It is true, Lord, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all these nations. 18 And they have thrown the gods of these nations into the fire and burned them. But of course the Assyrians could destroy them! They were not gods at all—only idols of wood and stone shaped by human hands. 19 Now, O Lord our God, rescue us from his power; then all the kingdoms of the earth will know that you alone, O Lord, are God.”
Canada was founded on biblical principles and our early leaders looked to God for help and acknowledged Him as God of all the kingdoms of the earth.  Let us continue to pray for our leaders, that they would do the same.

Tomorrow's Bible In a Year Passage:  2 Kings 20:1-22:2, Acts 21:18-36, Psalm 150:1-6, Proverbs 18:9-10
