Today's reading from the Chronological OT/NT Reading Plan is: Jeremiah 43-44, Hebrews 11:20-40
Happy Monday Everyone!
Ok, that Hebrews reading is just so inspiring for a Monday morning!! It is a new favorite for me.
20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.
21 By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.
22 By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.
23 By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
24 By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.
(emphasis mine)
I could actually quote all 20 verses here, but just stuck with these for now. None of these great Biblical men had anything special within them that made them extraordinary. What this passage tells us is that they had something - that we can ALL grasp - to make us extraordinary, but it is not within us, it is FAITH. FAITH in Christ can allow us to do extraordinary things.
Not our own ideas, our own talents, our own money, our own strengths, but FAITH! Holding our days, our decisions, our finances, our children, our future out with open palms of faith so God can do extraordinary things in our life, through the filter of HIS Sovereignty and glory.
It's exciting isn't it?!
Have a great week,
J
Tomorrow's passage: Lamentations 1-2, Hebrews 12

The part of that passage in Hebrews that always jumps out at me is that BARAK is given honourable mention. Something tells me that while we like to credit Deborah with being the great leader, it was really her support and encouragement that made Barak the great leader. Funny how few people include this verse when they use Deborah as a "women in leadership" argument.
Yup, I love this passage too - it's so inspiring!
Tammi - good point about Barak!
